About KRT
Established in 1991, Rail to Trail Blazers(finally called Klamath Rails-to-Trails Group(KRT)) is made up of
local citizens dedicated to advancing the OC&E Woods Line State Trail. The initial goal of KRT was to work with
Weyerhaeuser Timber Company to rail bank and convert the Oregon California and Eastern Railway corridor into a
recreation trail. Once Weyerhaeuser agreed to rail bank the rail way a sponsor for the trail was needed.
KRT successfully lobbied Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) to agree to take over the former railway.
In 1992 OPRD took over the rail banked corridor and entered in an interim trail use agreement.
Once the railway corridor had been transferred to OPRD KRT shifted its mission to one of developing the trail.
The mission of KRT is to assist OPRD develop and maintain the OC&E Woods Line State trough various methods including:
Grant writing,fundraising,volunteer maintenance, assisting indevelopment planing, supervision of
community Serviceworker program.
The Executive board of KRT consists of eight elected members
from the local community. Our current executive board members are:
